The jury’s still out on our August weather. So many love the cool evenings and mid to upper 70’s temperatures during the day. Others want those HOT August nights before we roll back into our September routine. Cycling, running, swimming, rowing or just hanging at the beach, its all about what YOU want for you before the season ends. Even if regular exercise has taken a back seat lately, listen to that little voice when the urge to have that extra hot dog or that extra piece of high fat/high calorie dessert inevitably shows up! Now, if you’ve been burning those extra calories each week, that’s another story. Growing up in Texas, we used to say that if something tasted good, fry it and it’ll be even better! And if that’s not enough, dump some gravy on it too! Wow. Glad those days are gone. The point so often missed is that when you workout regularly, its ok to indulge a bit. “We train so we don’t gain when we entertain.” And let me tell you, Texas folks can’t hold a candle to how often we Buffalonians entertain (party?) every season. Fine when its fall and winter and we’re doing our regular thing. But in the Summer, we have to be think about it more. So, whenever possible, get up early and get a great workout in. And if early isn’t your thing, ‘aint it nice that we have these cool August evenings?
